Does EasyRoutes let me avoid tolls or u-turns?

Yes. You can direct the route optimizer to avoid tolls and or u‑turns for both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web. These preferences guide the routing engine to favour compliant roads and turns, which may increase distance or time if alternatives cover a greater distance. Set these options globally from the Route Options panel, or add them to an existing route and re‑optimize to apply. Combine with other constraints (such as time windows, max route duration, or vehicle capacity) to keep routes realistic for drivers and accurate for customer ETAs.

Can the app work offline?

Yes. EasyRoutes Delivery Driver supports low‑connectivity scenarios. Have drivers open or refresh the route while connected to preload stops and attachments. If signal drops, they can continue navigating (via their chosen maps app), mark stops delivered/attempted, and capture photos/signatures. The app queues events locally and syncs them back to EasyRoutes as soon as the device reconnects, updating ETAs and tracking automatically.

How does barcode scanning work in EasyRoutes?

EasyRoutes turns your driver’s phone camera into a scanner — no extra hardware needed. Drivers scan a barcode or QR code from the Proof of Delivery section, or from a Scanner-input Driver Task, before completing a stop. Matching codes are confirmed in green; non-matching codes appear in yellow and can be flagged back to the route planner. Every scan is stored with the stop’s proof of delivery for live or later review. Works in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

Can I re-optimize a route after it’s created?

Yes. Both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web let you re‑optimize a route whenever plans change. Use this feature after you add or remove stops, change stop priorities, edit time windows or service times, or adjust limits like max route duration and stop limits. You can also balance stops across multiple routes first, then re‑optimize each route to tighten the sequence. If permitted in your Driver Settings, drivers may manually re‑order stops from the driver app or re‑optimize the remaining stops in their route to recalculate ETAs after mid‑route changes. For API‑driven workflows, use the Routes API to programmatically update routes and trigger re‑optimization.

What app permissions are required?

Drivers should enable: (1) Location set to Always/Allow all the time with Precise on for accurate tracking and ETAs; (2) Camera/Photos to capture proof of delivery; (3) Notifications for new route alerts; and (4) on Android, allow Storage/Media so photos save correctly. Battery optimization should not restrict the app so background location continues during a route.

Can I test the API in a sandbox environment?

While there isn’t a separate public sandbox, you can safely test in a non‑production environment. Create a test shop (Shopify) or an EasyRoutes for Web workspace with sample data, generate a dedicated API token, and point webhooks to staging URLs. Use draft orders or manual stops that contain your own contact info so notifications and tracking tests go only to your team. When your flows are validated, switch credentials and endpoints to production.

Can I factor driver breaks into my routes?

Yes. You can add breaks before optimization (by setting the planned break time) or after creating a route (by inserting a break and positioning it between stops). Breaks appear to drivers as a stop in the sequence, and when a break is included in a route, EasyRoutes will recalculate remaining ETAs and the overall route duration. This is useful for lunch windows, mandatory rest periods, or overnight pauses. For multi‑day itineraries, consider splitting different days into separate routes, or using an overnight strategy so customer ETAs align with actual delivery periods.

Can I integrate EasyRoutes with other business tools?

Yes. Integrate EasyRoutes with your existing stack in two ways: (1) programmatically via the Routes API to import stops, create/dispatch routes, and update status; and (2) event‑driven with webhooks and Zapier to push delivery events into Sheets, Slack, email, ERPs/CRMs, or custom endpoints. Can the API update route status?

Yes. When your store uses EasyRoutes notifications, status changes made through the API follow the same rules and can send customer updates and refresh ETAs. Can I use the API to import external eCommerce orders?

Yes. The EasyRoutes Routes API accepts imported orders/stops (customer details, address, items, notes) so you can bring orders from non‑Shopify sources into EasyRoutes. After importing, you can create new routes, add the stops to existing routes, assign drivers, and dispatch. This works for both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web and complements CSV import when you need automation.

What is the Activity Feed in EasyRoutes?

The Activity Feed provides an up‑to‑date audit trail across EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web. It records events like route creation/dispatch, stop status updates (Out for Delivery, Delivered, Attempted), driver assignments, and proof‑of‑delivery uploads. Use it to investigate issues, answer customer inquiries with precise timestamps, and validate operational changes during a delivery day.

Does EasyRoutes work with Shopify’s built-in notifications?

Yes. In EasyRoutes for Shopify you can choose between EasyRoutes’ customizable notifications and Shopify’s built‑in notifications. When using Shopify templates, EasyRoutes maps delivery events (e.g., Out for Delivery, Delivered; Missed Delivery for Local Delivery) to Shopify’s corresponding notifications and attaches the tracking link on fulfillment. To prevent double‑sending, review Shopify’s notification settings and disable overlapping templates when EasyRoutes emails/SMS are enabled.

Can I mix pickups and deliveries on the same route?

Yes. A single EasyRoutes route can combine deliveries and pickups, so a driver can drop off orders and collect returns, empties, or reusable packaging on one trip. Add pickup stops alongside deliveries from Shopify orders, CSV/API imports, or manual stops; optimization sequences everything together, and each task is labeled for the driver in the app and on printed documents. Can I lock or pin a stop's position in the route?

There isn’t a dedicated “lock” toggle to pin one stop to a fixed position. Instead, you control sequence by arranging stops manually with drag-and-drop, and that order stays until you choose to re-optimize (which recalculates the sequence). To keep a stop first or last, set it as your start or end location; to influence inclusion order, use Priority stops. Applies to both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

What are EasyRoutes Workflows?

Workflows in EasyRoutes are powerful automation tools that let you design and run delivery management processes without needing to handle every step manually. Think of them as “if-this-then-that” rules that connect your orders, routes, and driver dispatching into a seamless flow. Instead of relying on a dispatcher to constantly create routes, select orders, or assign drivers, Workflows can do these repetitive tasks for you automatically.

For example, you could create a Workflow that listens for new Shopify orders tagged as “Local Delivery” and automatically builds a route every morning at 9 AM, adds matching orders to the route, optimizes route stops, and assigns it to a specific driver. By reducing manual intervention, Workflows make your operations more consistent, scalable, and error-proof.

Are there API rate limits?

Yes. The EasyRoutes API enforces rate limits to ensure consistent performance for all users. Most workflows run comfortably within default limits when you batch requests, avoid unnecessary polling, and rely on webhooks to trigger updates rather than frequent reads. If you expect sustained high throughput (e.g., large imports or rapid status updates), our team can help you design an efficient approach and advise on limits for your use case.

What permissions do drivers need to enable tracking?

For reliable live tracking, drivers should: (1) sign in to EasyRoutes Delivery Driver; (2) allow Always/Allow all the time location access; (3) enable Precise location; and (4) keep battery optimization from restricting the app (disable aggressive battery saver if needed). These settings apply on both iOS and Android and can be checked from device Settings.

Can I export my routes for reporting or analysis?

Does EasyRoutes support Shopify Subscription orders?

Yes. Alongside EasyRoutes-native barcodes, drivers can scan existing product or order barcodes and QR codes — including supplier UPC, EAN, Code 128, and 2D formats like QR and Data Matrix — using the phone camera. Externally generated codes are captured and stored with the stop for reference, though match validation (the green/yellow confirmation) applies to EasyRoutes-native codes. Can I plan for two-person or extended-handling stops?

For extended-handling stops, increase the Time per stop or the individual stop's service time so ETAs and Max route duration account for the extra work. For two-person deliveries, note that a route is assigned to a single driver account, so you'd staff that route's vehicle with a crew operationally rather than assigning two driver logins to one route.

Can proof of delivery be exported for records?
