Scan, Verify, Deliver

Equip drivers with a built-in barcode scanner to confirm the right order at the right stop, capture proof of delivery, and reduce costly mistakes.

"We've tried many different third party solutions and this one is very easy to use, extremely accurate and gives the customer detailed information with proof of delivery options on completion."

Barcode Scanning

EasyRoutes barcode scanning adds an extra layer of validation to every stop. Generate EasyRoutes-native barcodes on packing slips and packing labels, or attach external product and order barcodes, then let drivers scan them directly from the EasyRoutes Delivery Driver mobile app. From the Proof of Delivery section or a Scanner input Driver Task, drivers use their device camera to scan a barcode or QR code before completing the stop — matching scans are clearly confirmed, while non-matching codes can be flagged and reported back to your route planner.

All scans are stored with the stop’s proof of delivery, alongside photos, signatures, and notes, and can be reviewed live on the Route Page or after the route is complete. It’s a simple way to cut down on mis-deliveries, verify high-value or sensitive orders, and keep a reliable record of every package that reaches the door.

Frequently asked questions

How does barcode scanning work in EasyRoutes?

Drivers scan a barcode or QR code with their phone camera to validate each stop before completing it. See: Barcode scanning

Do I need a special scanner or hardware to use barcode scanning?

No. Barcode scanning uses your driver’s existing phone camera — no dedicated scanners or hardware required. See: Barcode scanning

What's the difference between EasyRoutes-native barcodes and existing product/order barcodes?

EasyRoutes-native barcodes are generated by EasyRoutes and tied to a specific stop, so scans can be validated as a match; existing product/order barcodes can be scanned and recorded but aren’t stop-matched the same way. See: Barcode scanning

Can I scan existing UPC/product barcodes or QR codes from my supplier?

Yes. Drivers can scan existing UPC, EAN, Code 128, and 2D codes like QR and Data Matrix with the phone camera, and the values are stored with the stop. See: Scanning on the mobile app

How do I set up a Scanner-input Driver Task?

In Add/edit options, enable Driver tasks, click Add new task, choose Scanner input, name it, and optionally require it for Delivered/Attempted. See: Driver tasks

What happens when a scanned barcode doesn't match?

A non-matching code shows in yellow (matches show green), and drivers can flag a scan issue that’s reported to the route planner. See: Scanning on the mobile app

Can I require a successful scan before a stop can be completed?

Yes. Mark a Scanner-input task as required for Delivered and/or Attempted, or require a Barcode Scan as proof of delivery in Driver Settings. See: Driver tasks

Are barcode scans recorded in the proof-of-delivery log?

Yes. Scans are stored with the stop’s proof of delivery for live or later review, and can be included when you export stop data. See: Proof of Delivery

Which plans include barcode scanning?

Barcode scanning is available on EasyRoutes Premium and Enterprise plans, in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web. See: Driver tasks

Do packing slips and labels include scannable QR codes or barcodes?

Yes. You can add scannable EasyRoutes QR codes to packing slips and labels from Settings > Packing Slips & Labels. See: Barcode scanning
