Do I need special hardware for barcode scanning?

No. Barcode scanning uses the camera on your driver’s existing iOS or Android device, so there’s no need to buy dedicated scanners or hardware. Drivers scan directly from the EasyRoutes Delivery Driver app, with a built-in flash option for low light and a manual-entry fallback if a code won’t read. It supports common linear formats (UPC, EAN, Code 128, and more) and 2D codes like QR and Data Matrix. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Barcode scanning

Can I assign multiple drivers to a single route?

No — routes are single‑driver to keep tracking, ETAs, and proof‑of‑delivery accurate. If two or more drivers are needed, split the stops into multiple routes (or create a new route for leftovers) and dispatch each separately. You can also publish a route without assigning a driver, and share a self‑assign link so someone from your pool can claim it when ready.

See: How driver assignment works

Can I factor driver breaks into my optimized routes?

Yes. You can add breaks before optimization (by setting the planned break time) or after creating a route (by inserting a break and positioning it between stops). Breaks appear to drivers as a stop in the sequence, and when a break is included in a route, EasyRoutes will recalculate remaining ETAs and the overall route duration. This is useful for lunch windows, mandatory rest periods, or overnight pauses. For multi‑day itineraries, consider splitting different days into separate routes, or using an overnight strategy so customer ETAs align with actual delivery periods.

See: Driver Breaks · Overnight / Multi‑day routes

Can I use the API to import orders from other platforms?

Yes. The EasyRoutes Routes API accepts imported stops (customer details, address, items, notes) so you can bring orders from non‑Shopify sources into EasyRoutes. After importing, you can create new routes, add the stops to existing routes, assign drivers, and dispatch. This works for both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web and complements CSV import when you need automation.

See: EasyRoutes Routes API – Import Stops

Can I lock or pin a stop's position in the route?

There isn’t a dedicated “lock” toggle to pin one stop to a fixed position. Instead, you control sequence by arranging stops manually with drag-and-drop, and that order stays until you choose to re-optimize (which recalculates the sequence). To keep a stop first or last, set it as your start or end location; to influence inclusion order, use Priority stops. Applies to both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Editing routes · Priority stops

Can the API update route status?

Yes. Programmatically modify routes and stops using the Routes API — update stop status (delivered/attempted), change assignments, dispatch routes to drivers, or edit route options, then re‑optimize as needed. When your store uses EasyRoutes notifications, status changes made through the API follow the same rules and can send customer updates and refresh ETAs. This applies to both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: API Getting Started Guide · EasyRoutes Routes API

Can I notify a customer when a delivery is rescheduled or reattempted?

Yes. Enable the Rescheduled template in Customer notifications and customize its message and variables (new date, time window, tracking link). When you reschedule a stop to a new day or route, you can send the updated notification so the customer isn't left guessing — and a Missed Delivery notice can go out automatically when a stop is marked Attempted.

Notifications work over email and SMS for both Shopify orders and imported or manual stops, across EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Delivery Notifications – Email & SMS

Does EasyRoutes support vehicle capacity limits?

Yes. When optimizing, set per‑route limits (max items/weight) so loads fit the assigned vehicle. You can also create Vehicle Profiles for an additional indicator for routes that have specific restrictions by vehicle, and enable route constraints (e.g., avoid tolls or U‑turns), and reuse them across routes. These settings help prevent overloads and keep route planning aligned with your real fleet.

Can I move from Shopify Local Delivery to EasyRoutes?

Yes. EasyRoutes is built to replace and extend Shopify Local Delivery. It reads your existing Local Delivery orders — including checkout delivery instructions — and adds route optimization, driver dispatch, live tracking, customer notifications, and proof of delivery on top. Install from the Shopify App Store and your orders sync automatically, so there's no manual re-entry. The same routing tools are also available in EasyRoutes for Web.

How does EasyRoutes handle orders with no delivery date or time?

Orders without a delivery date or time window are still fully routable — EasyRoutes simply optimizes them for the shortest, most efficient path instead of constraining them to a window. You can mix dated and undated orders on the same route: those with windows are sequenced to honor them, while the rest fill the gaps. Use Order Filters to include or exclude undated orders, and add a window manually to any stop when you need one. This applies to both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Time Windows · Order Filters

Can I test a Workflow before enabling it for my team?

Yes. EasyRoutes allows you to build Workflows in a safe, draft environment where you can preview how they would behave without actually triggering live actions. This lets you confirm that your conditions and actions are working as expected before rolling them out to your team.

For example, you might test a Workflow that creates a route every morning at 8 AM by running it with sample orders first, so you can see how the route would look. Once you’re confident it works, you can enable it in production and have it run automatically every day. This ability to test Workflows helps prevent mistakes like dispatching routes too early or sending customers duplicate notifications. It also makes it easier to experiment with new automations before committing to them.

See: Testing Workflows

Can customers give feedback through their tracking page?

Yes. Delivery Ratings allow recipients to provide quick feedback from the tracking page right after their order is delivered. You can collect a star rating and an optional comment, then export results or segment by driver to monitor individual performance and service quality. Ratings help highlight coaching opportunities and verify customer satisfaction trends over time.

Do I need coding skills to connect Xero with EasyRoutes?

No technical background is needed if you use Zapier to connect Xero with EasyRoutes. Zapier provides a no-code way to set up automations like sending invoices into EasyRoutes for route creation. For advanced teams, the EasyRoutes API allows for custom integrations, syncing invoice updates, or linking to ERP/CRM systems.

How often is analytics data updated?

Analytics reflects new data shortly after drivers complete or update stops in the EasyRoutes Delivery Driver app. Because updates depend on device connectivity and permissions, you may see a brief delay if a driver is offline; once the device reconnects, metrics catch up automatically. For the most granular timeline, open the route and review the Activity Feed, which lists each delivery event as it occurred.

This live‑update behaviour applies to both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web. If numbers look stale, refresh the page or adjust your date/driver filters and try again.

How is real-time driver location displayed to customers?

Customer tracking pages can display an anonymized, live driver pin so recipients can see the driver’s progress as delivery approaches. Enable the option in EasyRoutes Settings → Order tracking, and use delivery notifications (email/SMS) to send tracking links automatically. When live location is unavailable (e.g., permissions off), the page still shows status updates and ETAs based on route progress.

See: Real-Time Driver Location Tracking · Customizable Order Tracking Pages

How is proof of delivery captured when no one is present to receive the order?

When no one is available, the driver documents the drop instead of collecting a signature: up to four photos of where the order was left, an optional note (e.g., "left behind the side gate"), and the GPS location and timestamp captured automatically. All of it is saved to the stop's proof-of-delivery record.

You can make a photo and/or note mandatory to mark the stop delivered, and display these items on the customer's tracking page for confidence. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Proof of Delivery · Customer tracking pages

How long is activity feed data stored?

EasyRoutes maintains a persistent log of account activity so admins have an authoritative record of delivery events over time. The Activity Feed retains entries for the lifetime of your account unless data is explicitly deleted (e.g., via route removal or a data‑deletion request). When you need a file for records or audits, pair the feed with route/stop CSV exports that include timestamps and proof‑of‑delivery links. This applies to both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Activity Feed · Export routes/stops

What types of proof of delivery does EasyRoutes support?

Drivers can capture multiple photos, obtain a customer e‑signature, and add notes at the stop. These items are stored with timestamps and the completion context, and they’re visible to admins on the route and stop record. When enabled in EasyRoutes Settings, customers can see PoD on tracking pages and in notifications.

See: Proof of Delivery

How does the free trial work?

Pick any plan to start a 14-day trial with full feature access. Cancel during the trial to avoid charges; continue and your subscription begins at the end of day 14. Trials apply to any tier, and billing starts on your first post-trial cycle through Shopify (for EasyRoutes for Shopify) or Stripe (for EasyRoutes for Web). Seat changes you make later will be prorated within your billing cycle.

How is real-time driver location shown to customers?

Customer tracking pages can display an anonymized, live driver pin so recipients can see the driver’s progress as delivery approaches. Enable the option in EasyRoutes Settings → Order tracking, and use delivery notifications (email/SMS) to send tracking links automatically. When live location is unavailable (e.g., permissions off), the page still shows status updates and ETAs based on route progress.

How does EasyRoutes handle orders without a shipping address?

Yes. If a Shopify order arrives without a valid shipping address, EasyRoutes highlights it so you can fix the address before planning. Edit the order in Shopify (preferred for data accuracy) or add the correct address details to the stop in EasyRoutes, then refresh and route. For pickup orders, set the address to your store or pickup point so drivers and staff can see the correct location on the route map and in documents. Address completeness ensures accurate ETAs, navigation, and proof‑of‑delivery records.

What actions can I perform in EasyRoutes using Zapier?

Zapier lets you automate actions inside EasyRoutes, such as importing stops from external systems. For example, a Zap could take new orders from WooCommerce or Xero and create delivery stops inside EasyRoutes automatically. This eliminates manual data entry and keeps your routes up-to-date in real time.

See: Zapier Integration Guide

Does EasyRoutes support real-time updates for WooCommerce orders?

By default, CSV imports are static snapshots. To achieve real-time updates, you can set up Zapier workflows or use the EasyRoutes API. For example, if an order’s address changes in WooCommerce, Zapier or a custom API connection can automatically push that update into EasyRoutes, ensuring drivers always have the latest information.

See: Zapier Guide

Can I use Workflows with Squarespace orders?

Yes. After importing Squarespace orders into EasyRoutes (via CSV, Zapier, or API), they can be used with Workflows. For example, you could set up a Workflow that automatically generates delivery routes at a set time each day from all Squarespace orders and dispatches them to drivers. This helps Squarespace merchants automate repetitive tasks and maintain smooth operations.

See: EasyRoutes Workflows

Can customers give feedback via their tracking page?

See: Delivery Ratings

Can I require drivers to start a route before tracking begins?

Yes. In both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web you can enforce a start action. When a driver taps Start Delivery in the mobile app, EasyRoutes records the route start time and begins live location updates. This prevents drivers from completing stops out of context and ensures analytics include drive time from the route's start location. If a route must be paused, drivers can resume later to continue tracking.
