Frequently Asked Questions

Get quick answers to the most common questions about EasyRoutes—setup, routes, drivers, and more.

Can I notify a customer when a delivery is rescheduled or reattempted?

Yes. Enable the Rescheduled template in Customer notifications and customize its message and variables (new date, time window, tracking link). When you reschedule a stop to a new day or route, you can send the updated notification so the customer isn't left guessing — and a Missed Delivery notice can go out automatically when a stop is marked Attempted.

Notifications work over email and SMS for both Shopify orders and imported or manual stops, across EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Delivery Notifications – Email & SMS

How do I reschedule or redeliver a failed delivery?

When a delivery can't be completed, the driver marks the stop Attempted and selects a reason (customer unavailable, access denied, refused, and more), capturing proof of the attempt. To redeliver, use Send to another route to move the stop onto a new or later route — as a fresh stop, or as a copy that preserves the original's history.

This keeps failed stops from getting lost and lets you batch redeliveries into the next run. Works in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

Can I set a default "leave at door" instruction for certain orders or customers?

Yes. Add the instruction to a saved customer in your Address Book and it carries over to that customer's future stops; for one-off orders, add it as a stop note. Shopify local-delivery instructions are also parsed onto the stop automatically.

These notes display to the driver in the app, and a required Driver Task can prompt them to confirm the leave-at-door step. Works in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Driver & Stop Notes · Address Book

How is proof of delivery captured when no one is present to receive the order?

When no one is available, the driver documents the drop instead of collecting a signature: up to four photos of where the order was left, an optional note (e.g., "left behind the side gate"), and the GPS location and timestamp captured automatically. All of it is saved to the stop's proof-of-delivery record.

You can make a photo and/or note mandatory to mark the stop delivered, and display these items on the customer's tracking page for confidence. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

Does EasyRoutes support contactless or leave-at-door delivery?

Yes. For contactless or leave-at-door drops, a driver can complete a stop without a signature by photographing where the order was left, capturing the GPS delivery location, and adding a note. Up to four photos, an automatic timestamp, and the location are stored with the stop as proof.

You can require specific proof — for example a photo — before a stop can be marked delivered, and show it on the customer's tracking page. Works in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

Can I set different service times for different stops or stop types?

Yes. Set a route-wide Time per stop as your baseline, then adjust the service time on any individual stop from its Edit stop page — useful when a bulk drop, an in-home setup, or a quick curbside hand-off needs a different allowance than the rest of the route.

Because each stop's time feeds ETAs and counts toward Max route duration, mixing short and long service times still produces an accurate schedule. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Route Options · Editing Routes

How do per-stop service times affect my ETAs and route length?

Every minute of Time per stop is added to the running clock as the driver works down the route, so each stop's ETA reflects both travel time and the time spent delivering the stops before it. More realistic ETAs mean fewer missed windows and better customer notifications.

Service time also counts toward Max route duration: if adding stops would push a route past your cap, optimization splits the work into additional routes instead of overrunning. Applies to both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Max route duration · Route Scheduling & ETAs

Can I set how much time a driver spends at each stop?

Yes. The Time per stop route option lets you set how many minutes a driver spends at each stop — parking, walking, and handing off — so routes reflect real service time, not just drive time. Set it when creating a route, and it's applied to every stop on that route.

You can also fine-tune the service time on an individual stop from its Edit stop page when a particular delivery needs longer. Works in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

Can I move from Shopify Local Delivery to EasyRoutes?

Yes. EasyRoutes is built to replace and extend Shopify Local Delivery. It reads your existing Local Delivery orders — including checkout delivery instructions — and adds route optimization, driver dispatch, live tracking, customer notifications, and proof of delivery on top. Install from the Shopify App Store and your orders sync automatically, so there's no manual re-entry. The same routing tools are also available in EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Shopify Local Delivery migration guide · Local Delivery instructions

How do I switch to EasyRoutes from another delivery app?

Switching is straightforward. On Shopify, install EasyRoutes and your orders sync automatically — no data migration needed. For orders from other systems or platforms, bring them in by CSV/spreadsheet import (an AI assistant maps your columns), Zapier, or the API, then set your route options and add drivers to start routing. Most merchants are live the same day. Works with both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

Can EasyRoutes help reduce my delivery carbon footprint?

Yes — indirectly, by cutting the miles you drive. Route optimization sequences stops into the shortest efficient path and consolidates orders into fewer, fuller routes, which lowers distance, fuel burn, and emissions. Analytics tracks route distance and drive time, and with Vehicle Profiles you can break results down by vehicle and compare periods to see the reduction over time. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Analytics · Route Options

Can I mix pickups and deliveries on the same route?

Yes. A single EasyRoutes route can combine deliveries and pickups, so a driver can drop off orders and collect returns, empties, or reusable packaging on one trip. Add pickup stops alongside deliveries from Shopify orders, CSV/API imports, or manual stops; optimization sequences everything together, and each task is labeled for the driver in the app and on printed documents. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Pickup orders · Adding custom stops

Can I schedule returns or reusable-packaging pickups as stops on a delivery route?

Yes. EasyRoutes lets you add pickups — including returns and reusable-packaging collections — as stops on a delivery route, so drivers retrieve containers on the same run. Add them as custom/manual stops or via CSV/API, set the pickup location, and use stop notes to tell drivers what to collect. Collections appear in sequence with deliveries, on printed manifests, and in the driver app. Works in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

Can I keep delivery routes short enough to protect perishable goods?

Yes. You can constrain every route so product isn't in transit too long. Set Max route duration to cap total hours, use Max stops per route or Max items per route to limit load size, and optimization will automatically create additional routes rather than overrun your limit. Add time windows for the most sensitive stops so they're served first. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Route Options · Max items/weight per route

How do I handle perishable or temperature-sensitive deliveries with EasyRoutes?

EasyRoutes helps protect perishable and temperature-sensitive goods by keeping product moving and time on the road to a minimum. Cap each route with Max route duration and Max stops per route so no run exceeds your safe window, assign delivery time windows to fragile stops, and let optimization sequence and split orders across drivers for faster dispatch. This works the same in EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Route Options · Time Windows

What are Vehicle Profiles and how do I set them up?

Vehicle Profiles let you save details about the vehicles you deliver with — type, make, model, and fuel economy. Create them from the Drivers & Vehicles area, then assign a profile to a route (or set one as a Route Option so it applies to new routes). Once assigned, you can track route metrics per vehicle, filter Analytics by vehicle, and the assigned vehicle shows in the driver app. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Vehicle Profiles

Can I customize the branding of the customer tracking page?

Yes. Your customer tracking page carries your branding — add your logo and adjust the look from EasyRoutes Settings > Order Tracking, and choose which order details and delivery information customers see. Paired with your notification settings, customers get a consistent, branded experience with live ETAs and driver location. This is separate from your email/SMS template customization. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

Can I lock or pin a stop's position in the route?

There isn’t a dedicated “lock” toggle to pin one stop to a fixed position. Instead, you control sequence by arranging stops manually with drag-and-drop, and that order stays until you choose to re-optimize (which recalculates the sequence). To keep a stop first or last, set it as your start or end location; to influence inclusion order, use Priority stops. Applies to both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Editing routes · Priority stops

How do I set stop priorities for optimization?

Open a stop’s Actions menu (the three-dot icon) and mark it as High or Low priority, or select several stops and set their priority in bulk. When a route has limits (like max stops, items, or duration), High Priority stops are included first and Low Priority ones are dropped first. You can also auto-apply priority through order import rules. Priority stops are a Premium and Enterprise feature, in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.

See: Priority stops

How does EasyRoutes use real-time traffic in route optimization?

EasyRoutes factors expected traffic conditions into its route optimization and ETA calculations, using live map and traffic data to sequence stops and estimate arrival times. As conditions or your stops change, you can re-optimize at any time and EasyRoutes recalculates the most efficient order. This works alongside options like time windows, toll avoidance, and stop priorities. Available in both EasyRoutes for Shopify and EasyRoutes for Web.
